The Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) program was developed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT) and was first introduced in the US and abroad in 1980.
ATLS is an advanced training program for medical providers in the management of acute trauma cases. The ATLS courses teach a systematic, concise approach to assessing and managing multiply injured patients. It presents doctors with knowledge and techniques that are comprehensive and easily adapted to fit their needs.
NKT Traume is responsible for arranging the ATLS courses in Norway. Each year among 20 courses are held all over the country. Since the first course was held in 2004, more than 1.100 doctors and surgeons have taken the course in Norway.
